Project Background
This project will replace approximately 5,300 feet of the existing Los Alamos Trunk sewer pipeline that was installed in the 1950's. To improve performance, the new pipe will be 24 inches in diameter. It will be installed adjacent to the existing pipeline alignment, however, in certain locations it will be necessary to relocate small portions of the water main to create adequate separation from the proposed sewer line. Construction will begin at Streamside Drive and progress eastward to Elaine Dr.
Completing this project is crucial for the integrity of our community's infrastructure. Upgraded pipe materials will improve the performance of the sewer and water system. New sewer lines will reduce blockages caused by tree roots and minimize the need for repairs. They will also decrease groundwater infiltration into the sewer system, maintaining the effectiveness of our Wastewater Treatment Plant. New water lines will improve water flows and pressure to fire hydrants, protecting your home and property. Once the sewer and water improvements are installed, the streets will be re-paved, and pedestrian ramps will be improved where necessary.

June 2025 Update
Santa Rosa Completes First Part of Sewer Upgrade
Santa Rosa has finished the first part of the Los Alamos sewer project. Workers replaced 5,300 feet of old sewer pipes from the 1950s with new, larger pipes along Streamside Drive, Elaine Drive, Mission Circle, and Quigg Drive. The new pipes can handle more waste as the city grows, have less chance of leaks and backups during heavy rain, and are easier to fix since they're now under public roads. This work also protects the environment by reducing the risk of spills.
Work continues on three more sections that will add about 15,200 feet of new sewer pipes. Section 2 will run along Buckhorn Court, Maria Lane, and Melita Road. Section 3 will go from Montgomery Drive to Oakmont Creek. Section 4 will connect the other sections, including going under Santa Rosa Creek.
